It’s that time of the month again– time for a new set of Hella Handmade Creations swatches, that is! Over the next week I will be sharing my swatches on Instagram as well as here on my blog. Don’t forget to check back for part 2 of my swatches!
New to Hella Handmade Creations? Every month, HHC offers exclusive polishes from your favorite indie nail polish brands during a week-long pre-sale. The October pre-sale will be open from October 14th at 12:01 AM EST until October 21 at 11:59 PM Hawaiian on Hella Handmade Creations’ website. You can buy as many polishes as you want during the pre-sale. Each brand participating in HHC has picked their own theme to create specially inspired polishes.
Ethereal Lacquer is continuing their theme “Alice and Wonderland” with an outstanding holographic shade inspired by the white rose and the scenery seen around her. This shade will be $12.00 with no cap.
“Raindrops and Roses” has a charcoal jelly base with sapphire sister unicorn pigment, blue aurora shimmer, and an incredible amount of holographic flakies. The blue shimmer in this polish is absolutely stunning against the charcoal base. This shade was opaque in two coats of color and the formula was super creamy and easy to work with.
The holographic effect in this polish is absolutely outstanding under natural sunlight.
Girly Bits was inspired by everyone’s favorite narcissist: Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter! This beautiful lilac, which just so happens to be Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite color, will retail for $13.00 and has no cap.
“Celebrity Is, As Celebrity Does” is a purple holographic with pink shimmer and copper-red micro flakes. This shade was opaque in two coats of polish for me.
Outdoors in natural sunlight, you can really see the strong holographic effect.
Here’s a shot including an illustration of Gilderoy Lockhart from Jim Kay’s beautiful illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Lollipop Posse’s theme is The Magicians and this polish will be $12.50 and has no cap.
“Replace it with Dubstep” is a leather-brown scattered holographic filled with red duochrome pigment and red/green/gold shifting iridescent glitters in multiple sizes. I used two coats of polish for my swatch photos.
The red pigment and holographic effect really stand out outdoors under direct sunlight!
Chirality was inspired by Doctor Who to create a beautiful shade perfect for fall. This polish will retail for $12.00 and has no cap.
“Hello Sweetie” shifts from fuchsia to copper to burnt orange with red to copper shimmer, red microflakes, champagne to red shifting micro flakes, gold microglitter, and a sprinkling of holographic.
The fuchsia in this shade is especially noticeable outdoors in direct sunlight.
Seventy Seven Lacquer is starting a new theme this month: Female Rockers! This shade was inspired by musician Liz Phair, particularly her song “F*ck and Run” from the album Exile in Guyville. This polish will be $12.00 with a cap of 100 bottles.
“Letters & Sodas” is a greyed chocolate holographic with taupe microflakes, silver holographic, and a reddish flash of shimmer
Outdoors under direct sunlight, you can really see the strong holographic effect!
Wildflower Lacquer is beginning their journey with HHC with a shade inspired by Blanche from The Golden Girls. This polish will be $12.00 with a cap of 80 bottles.
“Eat Dirt and Die, Trash” is a magenta pink with UCC flakies that shift blue-violet-green, plus aqua shimmer, linear holographic, and scattered holographic flakes.
I love how the flakies stand out against the pink base outdoors under direct sunlight.
Rogue Lacquer created a beautiful shade inspired by the Justice League’s Flash. This shade will be $12.00 and has a cap of 80 bottles.
“Flash Like Lightning” is a pale lightning blue with red to gold aurora pigment and holographic shimmer. I used three coats of polish for this shade.
The shimmer in this shade glows beautifully in the sunlight!
POP Polish continues their theme of “female villains” with a shade inspired by Maleficent from the animated Sleeping Beauty film. This shade will retail for $12.50 and has no cap.
“What She Might Become” is an iridescent green to purple shifting polish with holographic flakes. I used two coats of polish for this shade.
This shade appears bright blue and the holographic shimmer stands out beautifully outdoors in direct sunlight.
Fancy Gloss created a beautiful thermal inspired by Betty from Riverdale. This polish will be $12.50 and has a cap of 100 bottles.
“Dear Betty” is a medium pink to light gold thermal with gold shimmer and a sprinkling of holographic shimmer. I used 2-3 coats of polish to make sure it would still be opaque in the warm state with my long nails.
Dear Betty is a beautiful pink in the cold state. The gold shimmer in this shade is beautiful in both states, but I absolutely love the way it pairs with this pink!
In the warm state, Dear Betty is a beautiful nude.
The natural sunlight really amplifies the beautiful gold shimmer in this shade!
