Hella Handmade Creations January 2019 Swatches (Part 2)

Today I’m back with part 2 of my January Hella Handmade Creations swatches! Missed part 1? Check out even more January swatches right here!

New to Hella Handmade Creations? Every month, HHC offers exclusive polishes from your favorite indie nail polish brands during a week-long pre-sale. The October pre-sale will be open from January 14th at 12:01 AM EST until January 21 at 11:59 PM Hawaiian on Hella Handmade Creations’ website.  You can buy as many polishes from any of the participating brands as you want during the pre-sale. Each brand participating in HHC has picked their own theme to create specially inspired polishes.

Chirality was inspired by Doctor Who to create “The 13th”, a sapphire blue jelly with purple to green-gold shimmer filled with emerald and gold holographic microglitter and rainbow glitters. This shade will be $10.00 and has no cap. This shade applied really nicely and was opaque in two coats of polish. You can also build up the opacity of the blue base with a third coat.

Quixotic Polish “Treat Yo Self 2019!” This holographic shade is absolutely stunning and totally encapsulates the essence of “treat yo self” day! This shade is an ultra neon pink holographic that will retail for $11.50 and has a cap of 125 bottles. As with all other Quixotic shades I have tried, this polish has a beautiful formula and reached full opacity in 2 coats of color. Treat yo self and be sure to pick this polish up!

DRK Nails has a set of three items this month. This set includes “The Girls”, the moody magenta shown by itself below. It also includes “Tutu Top Coat”, a pink magnetic top coat with red/green aurora pigment, as well as “Magic Light”, a loose holographic microflakie powder. The Girls will be available individually for $10.50 with no cap; the full set of three products will be available for $16.00 with a cap of 70.

Here you can see a quick design I came up with using all three of the products in this set! There are tons of gorgeous manicures you could come up with using these three beauties. Here I used the Tutu magnetic top coat over The Girls on all nails except my accent ring finger nail. On my accent nail I used the Magic Light powder on the tip of my nail as well as sprinkled it over the rest of the nail.

Bees Knees Lacuqer created “Wubba Lubba dub dub” inspired by Rick & Morty. This shade has a dark blue base with green to gold shifting sibling unicorn pee pigment and iridescent flakes. This shade is opaque in 2-3 coats of polish and applies easily to the nail. This polish will retail for $15.00 and has a cap of 200 bottles. I personally found this shade to be even more beautiful in person! The flakies and shimmer are simply stunning.

1850 Artisan Polish is joining Hella Handmade Creations this year with “Chocolate Waterfall”, which is inspired by their theme, Willy Wanka and the Chocolate Factory. Chocolate Waterfall is described as a delicious milk chocolate linear holographic. This polish was opaque in two coats of polish for me and applies wonderfully with a glossy finish. This shade will be $12.00 and has a cap of 150.

Native War Paints created “Four Directions” as part of their theme Native American culture and history. This shade has a white crelly base with black, red, and yellow mini glitters. I found this shade to reach opacity in three coats of polish, which allowed the white base to build up without any streaks. This shade will be $12.50 with no cap.

Wildflower was inspired by Rose from The Golden Girls to create “Back in St. Olaf”. This shade is a gray duochrome that shifts from violet to gold and is packed with linear holographic, holographic flakes, plus silver and gold flakies. This shade applies really smoothly and is opaque in 2-3 coats of polish. This polish will retail for $12.00 and has a cap of 80 bottles.

This month, Colors by Llarowe is starting a new theme inspired by Freddie Mercury! “Ready Freddie?” has a black base with multiple types of shifting flakes, original unicorn pee pigment, aurora pigment, red to green to pink to gold shifting shimmer, and holographic flakes. This shade applies beautifully and reaches full opacity in two coats of polish. This polish will be $12.00 and has a cap of 250 bottles.

Illyrian was inspired by The Craft to create “A Dangerous Type”, which has a dark grey leaning navy base and is packed with red/copper/green shifting iridescent flakes and scattered holographic microflakes. This shade will retail for $13.00 and has a cap of 300 bottles of polish. I used three thin coats of polish for my swatches, but for those with shorter nails, this shade can be opaque in two coats.

Great Lakes Lacquer created “The Way is Shut”, inspired by Lord of the Rings. The Way is Shut is an olive to lime green thermal with gold to green to blue shifting aurora shimmer plus a touch of scattered holographic. This shade will be $12.00 and has no cap. This shade is opaque in 2-3 coats of polish. I love the shimmer in this thermal! Below you can see this shade in transition, in the warmest state, and in the coldest state.

Sayuri was inspired by ice cream to create “Brain Freeze”, a holographic thermal that transitions from blackberry purple when cold to strawberry pink when warm. This shade is opaque in two coats of polish and will retail for $13.50 with a cap of 85 bottles. Below you can see this shade in transition, in the warmest state, and in the coldest state.

Femme Fatale was inspired by Stephen King to create this beautiful teal to forest green shifting thermal, “Sometimes Dead is Better”. This shade is a blue-toned aqua leaning teal in the warm state and a forest green in the cold state. This shade also has a bright medium green shimmer as well as a sprinkling iridescent flakies. Below you can see this shade in the full cold state followed by the full warm state. I reached full opacity in two coats of color with this polish. This polish will retail for $15.00 and has no cap.

The polishes shown in this post were sent to me for free in exchange for swatching and my honest review. Thank you so much for reading!
